Imagine a place in Thousand Oaks where there is fun, excitement, shopping and dining along every step. The Thousand Oaks Boulevard Improvement District is creating such a place in our city. Major funding for the project will be provided by the boulevard property owners. Thousand Oaks residents will have the opportunity to participate in a revitalization of the area and make it an exciting destination.

What are the elements of the plan?

Pedestrian-friendly street design, great lighting, streetwalks, outdoor dining and more!

Why?

The citizens want this. The latest community attitude survey conducted by the city showed citizens believe improving the boulevard should be the top priority of the city.

Where will shoppers & diners park their cars?

The plan provides for some on-street parking, but most parking areas would be behind the buildings, thereby encouraging street traffic.

Will the boulevard be a place for cyclists?

Yes. All are welcome, especially bicyclists. The plan recommends street cross-sections that allow for bike lanes through the project area along Thousand Oaks Boulevard.

More than a Boulevard...
it's a Destination

The city of Thousand Oaks is reviewing the Thousand Oaks Boulevard specific plan that would create a unique commercial corridor. It would be an area filled with shopping and dining that is friendly to pedestrians.

The plan includes some updated code changes that are needed to revitalize the core of the city. This plan is consistent with the city's overall vision and general plan.

The plan covers a portion of Thousand Oaks Boulevard from Moorpark Road to Dusenberg Drive.
